Tech Field Day #6

Tech Field Day 6: A Journey of Adventure and Beer

As I stepped off the plane at Logan International Airport, I was greeted by the familiar sight of airport chaos. But little did I know, this trip would be filled with more than just the usual airport hustle and bustle. Yesterday, I arrived in the greater Boston area for Tech Field Day #6, ready to embark on a journey of adventure and beer.

My travels began uneventfully, but with a hint of trouble brewing. When I landed at Schipol Airport for my transfer to the US flight, my boarding pass was nowhere to be found. I tried checking in at Bergen Airport Flesland, but even the machines at the self-service transit counters told me that my reservation was non-existent. Panic began to set in, but thanks to the kind and service-minded KLM employees at Schipol, the issue was quickly resolved. I was on my way, albeit a bit shaken and tired from the ordeal.

The flight from Schipol to Logan International Airport was incredibly boring, but at least I had some time to catch up on some much-needed sleep. Normally, I have no problems dozing off during flights, but this time around, I got zero minutes of shuteye. Add in the six-hour time difference, and you’ve got one tired traveling vNinja on your hands.

Finally, I arrived at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel and Conference Center, where I was greeted by the familiar sight of beer bottles and the sound of laughter. Stephen Foskett, the infamous vSamurai, had already arrived earlier in the day and was waiting for me with open arms (and a cold beer). We met up with Chris Wells, the other half of the vNinja duo, and set out to find some dinner.

Stephen, being the local expert that he is, guided us to a delicious Indian restaurant where we feasted on some amazing Thali. The spices and flavors were unlike anything I’ve ever tasted before, and it was the perfect cure for my jet-lagged taste buds. After dinner, we made our way to the Horseshoe Pub & Restaurant, where we indulged in some vTFDbeers (that’s Tech Field Day beers, for those who are new here). Let me tell you, it’s a lot of beer. I haven’t seen that many beer taps since my last visit to The Gingerbreadman in New York.

As I sit here, sipping on my beer and reminiscing about the day’s adventures, I can’t help but feel grateful for this experience. Meeting up with Chris and Stephen was a real treat, and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the delegates have in store for us during the next few days. Tech Field Day 6, you look awesome. The world has indeed survived the first ever meetup between the vSamurai and the vNinja, and I’m honored to be a part of it.

So here’s to adventure, beer, and the amazing people I’ve met along the way. Tech Field Day 6, you’re off to a great start. Let’s see what the rest of the journey has in store for us. Cheers!
