Stay Up-to-Date with the Latest Veeam Releases and Vanguard 2018 Update

Welcome to the latest edition of Veeam Vault, where we dive into the latest releases and updates from Veeam. This month, we’re excited to share with you the latest happenings in the world of Veeam, including the General Availability (GA) of Veeam Availability Orchestrator (VAO), the new Universal Storage Integration API, and Update 5 for the Veeam Management Pack. We’ll also give you a sneak peek into the Veeam Vanguard program for 2018 and highlight some of the excellent content created by our Vanguard crew.

VAO: Automated and Resilient Orchestration

One of the most exciting releases from Veeam this month is the GA of VAO, which has been in the works for a while now. This powerful tool boasts an automated and resilient orchestration engine for Veeam Backup & Replication replicas, designed specifically to help enterprises with compliance requirements. One of its biggest features is helping to reduce the cost and effort associated with planning for and recovering from a disaster through the automatic creation, documentation, and testing of disaster recovery plans.

For a deeper look at VAO’s features and functionality, Michael White has written an excellent overview post on the Veeam blog. If you’re looking to learn more about how VAO can help your organization achieve compliance and resilience, be sure to check out Michael’s post.

Universal Storage Integration API: Infinidat is First to Integrate

Another significant announcement from Veeam this month is the introduction of the Universal Storage Integration API, which allows approved Veeam Alliance Partners to build their own storage plug-ins to enable rapid development of primary storage integrations. Infinidat is the first Alliance Partner to integrate through the Universal Storage Integration API, adding to existing integrations with Cisco, Dell EMC, HPE, IBM, Lenovo, and NetApp.

If you’re using Infinidat as your storage backend, you can find instructions on how to download and install the plugin courtesy of Michael Cade’s blog post on the Veeam blog. This is an exciting development that further expands the capabilities of Veeam Backup & Replication, enabling even more seamless integration with your storage infrastructure.

Update 5 for Management Pack: Enhancing vSAN Alarms and Support for VMware Cloud on AWS

Last but certainly not least, Update 5 for the Veeam Management Pack has gone GA today! This release builds off of the previous Update 4 and includes several new features that we’re excited to share with you. One of the most notable enhancements is support for VMware Cloud on AWS, which starts to look like it will gain momentum in the market. Additionally, Veeam has enhanced its vSAN alarms as that product also evolves, providing even more comprehensive monitoring and management capabilities.

For a detailed description of all the new features in Update 5, be sure to check out the release post on the Veeam blog. We’re confident that this latest update will further solidify Veeam’s position as a leader in the backup and recovery space.
