Exciting News for Fans of the 28 Days Later Franchise!
If you’re a fan of the cult classic zombie films 28 Weeks Later and 28 Days Later, then you’re in for a treat! Director Danny Boyle and writer Alex Garland have been working on the next installment of the franchise, titled 28 Years Later, and they’ve just announced some exciting casting news.
According to Deadline, Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes have all joined the cast of 28 Years Later. While there’s no word on who anyone is playing or what the movie is even about, the fact that these three recognizable actors are on board is a marked change from the first two films, which went with relatively unknown actors at the time.
In an interview with io9, Garland revealed that the film is intended to be the start of a zombie trilogy, and that they have director Nia DaCosta lined up to direct part two. “That was key to the idea,” Garland said, “was it was a story that couldn’t naturally fit in one film…And there was a possibility—which we may not have the opportunity to do—but to do a proper trilogy.”
This is certainly an exciting development for fans of the franchise, and it’s clear that Boyle and Garland are not screwing around when it comes to this project. With a talented cast and a well-thought-out storyline, 28 Years Later has the potential to be a hit with audiences and critics alike.
Of course, we’ll have to wait and see what the movie is actually about and who these actors are playing before we can get too excited. But for now, it’s enough to know that this franchise is alive and well, and that we can look forward to more zombie action in the years to come.
So, stay tuned for updates on 28 Years Later, and let us know in the comments if you’re as excited about this news as we are!
