VMworld 2019 Veeam Wrap-Up

VMworld 2019: A Wrap-Up of Veeam Happenings

VMworld 2019 has come and gone, leaving behind a trail of excitement and anticipation for the upcoming VMworld Europe event. As a representative of Veeam, I was busy throughout the week, attending community events, partner meetings, and official Veeam gatherings. In this wrap-up post, I will share some of the highlights from Veeam’s presence at the event.

Project Pacific: A Resonating Move

One of my earlier posts on Project Pacific has been well-read this week, indicating that VMware’s move to integrate Kubernetes into vSphere has resonated with IT Pros. This move is a significant step towards simplifying the process of deploying and managing containerized applications, and it has generated a lot of interest in the community.

CDP Feature Debut and New Features

At VMworld 2019, Veeam publicly demoed its long-awaited CDP feature for the first time in a session with Danny Allan. In addition to the CDP feature, Veeam also announced some new features coming in v10. These include:

1. Enhanced Data Mobility: With Veeam’s enhanced data mobility feature, users can now move their data more easily and efficiently between different environments, including on-premises and cloud environments.

2. Simplified Backup and Recovery: Veeam’s new features provide a simplified backup and recovery process, making it easier for users to protect their data and recover from failures.

3. Improved Performance: The new features in v10 also improve the performance of Veeam’s software, allowing users to perform backups and restores more quickly and efficiently.

Supportability Milestones

VMware announced some important supportability milestones around VMworld 2019. These include:

1. Multi-Cloud Support: Veeam now supports multiple clouds, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform.

2. Enhanced Data Protection: With Veeam’s enhanced data protection feature, users can protect their data more comprehensively, including data stored in cloud environments.

3. Simplified Management: The new features in v10 also simplify the management of Veeam’s software, making it easier for users to manage their backups and restores.

Community Events and vBrownBag Tech Talks

In addition to the official Veeam events, I was able to attend a number of community events in between daily recap videos, partner meetings, and official Veeam gatherings. These events provided an excellent opportunity for me to connect with other members of the VMware and Veeam community, share knowledge, and learn about new developments in the field.

Veeam also hosted a number of vBrownBag Tech Talks, which are short, informal presentations that provide insights into various aspects of Veeam’s software and other relevant topics. These talks were embedded below, providing easy access to those who could not attend the event in person.

Conclusion

VMworld 2019 was an incredibly rewarding experience for me, as it provided an opportunity to connect with the VMware and Veeam community, learn about new developments in the field, and share knowledge with others. The week was busy, but it was well worth the effort. I am now looking forward to VMworld Europe, which promises to be another exciting event.
