VMworld 2019 has come and gone, leaving behind a whirlwind of excitement and innovation in its wake. As the dust settles and we look towards the next VMworld Europe event later this year, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on all that transpired at the US event.
As always, Veeam was a major presence at the show, with a packed schedule of community events, partner meetings, and official Veeam gatherings. It was a busy week for myself and many others on the Veeam team, but it was also incredibly rewarding.
One of the highlights of the event for me was the opportunity to attend a number of community events in between my daily recap videos, partner meetings, and official Veeam gatherings. These events provided a great chance to connect with other IT pros and industry experts, share knowledge and experiences, and learn about the latest trends and technologies in the virtualization space.
One topic that seemed to resonate with attendees was VMware’s move to integrate Kubernetes into vSphere, as evidenced by the popularity of my earlier post on Project Pacific. It’s clear that the industry is shifting towards more containerized and cloud-native applications, and Veeam is committed to supporting this shift with our own products and services.
Speaking of product news, we were able to publicly demo for the first time our long-awaited CDP feature in a session I gave with Danny Allan. This feature represents a major milestone for Veeam and marks an important step forward in data protection and availability. In addition, Michael Cade and David Hill took attendees through Veeam’s portable data format, which provides simplicity, reliability, and flexibility.
VMworld also provided an opportunity for Veeam to announce some important supportability milestones. Beyond the supportability, there were a number of Veeam-related sessions at the event, including two breakouts and a number of vBrownBag Tech Talks. The breakouts were gated this year, but all you need to do to view the sessions online is register for a VMworld account.
If you missed out on the event or would like to revisit some of the content, I’ve embedded the Veeam-flavored vBrownBag Tech Talks below. These talks cover a range of topics, from enhanced data mobility and data protection for vSphere, to what’s coming from Veeam in the future.
Overall, VMworld 2019 was an incredible success for Veeam and marked an important milestone in our journey towards supporting the next generation of virtualization technologies. With the excitement around Project Pacific and our CDP feature, it’s clear that the future is bright for both Veeam and the virtualization industry as a whole.
