As a virtualization specialist, I recently had the privilege of attending Tech Field Day 20 and participating in the event’s 10th-anniversary celebration. It was an honor to be a part of this milestone occasion and to share my expertise with the delegates and those watching on the livestream. The impact that Tech Field Day has had on people’s careers is not lost on me, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the event’s success.

At Veeam, we presented three main topics, including a quick re-introduction to our company and how we are doing in the market today. Rick Vanover then provided a Scale Out Backup Repository (SOBR) 101 overview and a quick recap of the Cloud Tier feature that was released as part of Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 4. To further debunk some of the terminology we use when talking about SOBR and the Cloud Tier, I put together a quick post last week.

We also showcased two of the most anticipated features in our upcoming Veeam Backup & Replication v10 release: enhancements to the Cloud Tier by adding Copy Mode and Immutability for Amazon S3. These features will provide even more efficient backup performance and ensure data integrity and security.

Michael Cade then took us through the v10 Enhanced NAS feature, which is one of our most eagerly anticipated and long-overdue features in years. Michael did an excellent job of explaining the differences between our solution and that of our competitors and why we have waited this long to release backup for NAS.

Finally, I had 15 minutes to race through a feature that is not coming as part of v10 but will be released in 2020… CDP! It’s taken us a while, but I believe we will have the most reliable and stable implementation of CDP. This feature is not something to be taken lightly, and I know from experience the impact problematic CDP implementations can have.

In conclusion, Tech Field Day 20 was an incredible experience, and I am honored to have been a part of it. Veeam’s participation in this event highlights our commitment to innovation and our dedication to providing our customers with the most advanced and reliable solutions in the market. We look forward to continuing to contribute to the tech community’s growth and success.
