A New Chapter in My Career

Passionate About Sharing Knowledge: My Journey to Becoming a VMUG Leader

As someone who is passionate about sharing knowledge and driving innovation in the tech industry, I am thrilled to announce that I have recently been appointed as a leader of the Dutch VMware User Group (VMUG). This new role is an exciting opportunity for me to contribute to the community that has played such a significant part in my career growth and development.

My journey with VMware began in 2014, when I attended my first NLVMUG event. I was working as a VMware engineer at a global healthcare IT company, and I was blown away by the knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities that the community provided. I remember being inspired by Dennis Hoegen Dijkhof and Christiaan Roeleveld’s presentation on the datacenter in a shoebox, which showcased the power of passionate nerds sharing their expertise with others. This experience sparked my desire to become an ITQer and share my own knowledge with the community.

Over the years, I have been fortunate enough to present at various events, including NLVMUG, VMUGs in Manchester, Prague, Paris, London, Belgium, Budapest, Sofia, Copenhagen, E2EVC, and many other great events. The opportunity to share my knowledge and collaborate with other experts in the field has been incredibly rewarding, and I have learned so much from these experiences.

In addition to my involvement with VMware, I have also founded the vEUC TechCon, together with Rob Beekmans and Sven Huisman. This experience taught me valuable lessons about organizing events, building a community, and working with sponsors. As someone who is always striving for improvement, I am excited to bring my personal touch to the Dutch VMUG and see where it takes us.

I am proud to be joining Joris Adriaanse in the leadership team, and together we are committed to continuing the great work that Dennis Hoegen Dijkhof and Joep Piscaer have accomplished over the years. We are eager to build on their successes and take the Dutch VMUG to new heights.

If you are interested in following our journey and staying up-to-date on all things VMware, be sure to follow @VMUGNL on Twitter. I am thrilled to be a part of this vibrant community and look forward to seeing where our passions take us next!
