vExpert 2018

Congratulations to the vExpert Class of 2018!

After a longer than expected deliberation period, the vExpert class of 2018 was announced late last Friday (US Time). This marks my seventh year as a vExpert, and I have been writing about the program for the past three or four years, sharing my thoughts on its perceived value and criticizing certain aspects of it. However, despite my criticism, I still believe in the value of the vExpert program, and I have come to realize that it is highly regarded by many people within the community.

As someone who has been a part of the program for a long time, I have noticed that there are two types of vExperts: those who expect entry year after year and those who struggle to be accepted. While some established vExperts may assume entry into the program, there are many others who desire entry and see it as a significant achievement. This is an important indicator of the program’s strength and the high regard in which it is held.

Despite my criticisms, I believe that the vExpert program is a great one, and it continues to be valued by the majority of those who actively participate. VMware still commands a loyal community base, and the vExperts lead from the front in this regard. The new website for the program is testament to its continued evolution and success.

As someone who has been part of both the vExpert and Veeam Vanguard programs, I have a lot of respect for the effort that goes into sorting through two thousand odd applications and renewals. The vExpert team is critical to the program’s success, and I would like to extend my congratulations to those who were selected as new members this year.

For those who are not familiar with the benefits of the vExpert program, here they are:

In conclusion, I would like to extend my congratulations to all the new members of the vExpert class of 2018. Well done! Remember that advocacy is a critical component of the program’s success, and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for this great community.
