New Patch for Backup for Microsoft Office 365… v11 is Coming Soon! 🚀

Veeam Backup & Replication v11: What You Need to Know Before the RTM

February has been an exciting month for Veeam, with the upcoming release of Veeam Backup & Replication v11 just around the corner. As a valued partner and user, it’s essential to be prepared for this major release and understand the necessary steps before the RTM (Recommended Transition Method) becomes available.

In preparation for v11, Veeam has released the first set of update patches for supporting platform products, marking an important milestone in the journey towards this new version. For our Veeam Cloud and Service Providers (VCSPs), it’s crucial to understand that the Backup for Office 365 5b patch needs to be applied as soon as possible before updating your main IaaS Veeam or Cloud Connect instances to Update v11.

To clarify, before upgrading to version 5b, you must be on one of the following versions:

* Backup for Microsoft Office 365 4.0.2.179

* Backup for Microsoft Office 365 4.0.3.179

* Backup for Microsoft Office 365 4.0.4.179

After upgrading, your build number will change to 5.0.1.179. It’s important to note that standalone instances and those installed on top of instances with Veeam Backup & Replication v10 should be updated before RTM is applied. This includes VCSPs who are utilizing the Self-Service feature through Cloud Connect.

The Cumulative Patch 5b also includes several resolved issues relating to SharePoint and OneDrive, Exchange Online, restore operations, and general server fixes. You can find the full list of resolved issues in the Resolved Issues section of the VeeamKB.

Additionally, for those with tenants that run the Explorers for Exchange or SharePoint separately from an installation of Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 or pre-v10 versions, there are also upgrades for both contained in the patch release.

With all these updates in place, VCSPs and other partners should be ready to deploy the RTM of v11 when it becomes available. Stay tuned for more information on that front!

There is a lot to love about v10 for Service Providers and customers alike, and we are confident that v11 will bring even more exciting features and improvements. As always, VIRTUALIZATION IS LIFE! and we’re here to help you make the most of it.
