Modernizing Infrastructure at Children’s Hospital in Krakow with Cisco

Cisco, a leading technology company, has donated a comprehensive network solution to the University Pediatric Hospital in Krakow, Poland. The solution includes Cisco Catalyst switches and access points, managed by the Cisco Wireless Controller, integrated with Contact.io’s IoT solution, and Cisco Identity Services Engine for enhanced security. This donation aims to modernize the hospital’s infrastructure, improve patient care, and provide better communication for patients, their families, and hospital staff.

The University Pediatric Hospital in Krakow is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in southern Poland, treating over 250,000 young patients with serious illnesses every year. The hospital has been facing connectivity issues due to its outdated infrastructure and challenging topography, which has hindered the transmission of data, including mobile communications. This has not only affected patients and their families but also hindered the work of hospital staff.

After conducting a site survey, Cisco engineers and the hospital’s IT team decided to implement a network solution consisting of Catalyst switches and access points, managed by the Cisco Wireless Controller, integrated with Contact.io’s IoT solution, and Cisco Identity Services Engine for enhanced security. The new wireless network provides reliable and secure coverage throughout the hospital, ensuring uninterrupted communication between patients, their families, and hospital staff.

“We are grateful for Cisco’s support in providing our hospital with cutting-edge technology that has greatly improved our ability to provide advanced medical care to our young patients,” said Professor Wojciech Cyrul, Director of the University Pediatric Hospital in Krakow. “The new network solution has not only enhanced the quality of care but also simplified communication between staff and patients, which is crucial for effective patient treatment.”

“We are proud to support the University Pediatric Hospital in Krakow, which is a vital institution that provides much-needed medical care to children,” said Jacek Przybylski, Director of Cisco Global Services Center in Krakow. “Our technology donation is just one example of our commitment to giving back to the community and providing the most advanced solutions to support the hospital’s critical work.”
