As I reflect on my experience at VMworld 2010, I am left with a few suggestions that I believe would enhance the event for future attendees. While the conference was an incredible opportunity to learn and network, there were a few areas where improvements could be made.
Firstly, I think it would be beneficial to include Twitter handles and blog links on the attendee badges. This would make it easier for attendees to connect with one another and continue conversations after the event. As David Owen (@vMackem) suggested, adding a QR code with contact information would take this idea even further, allowing attendees to easily scan and exchange contact details without the need for business cards.
Another suggestion I have is to extend the labs to year-round online availability. While the hands-on experience of the labs was invaluable, I believe that offering them online would allow more people to participate and benefit from the content. This could be especially useful for those who were unable to attend the event in person.
Finally, I think it would be a great idea to allow attendees to run the labs from their own computers while at VMworld. This would provide an additional opportunity for hands-on learning and would make the experience even more immersive. As gcballard suggested, this could be a great way to give attendees the ability to learn and experiment with the latest virtualization technologies in a more interactive and engaging way.
In addition to these suggestions, I would like to highlight the digital home of Christian Mohn and Stine Elise Larsen, vNinja.net. This website is a treasure trove of information and resources for virtualization enthusiasts, and it is well worth exploring for anyone looking to learn more about the industry.
Overall, my experience at VMworld 2010 was an incredible one, and I believe that these suggestions could help make future events even more successful. By incorporating Twitter handles and blog links on the attendee badges, extending the labs to year-round online availability, and allowing attendees to run the labs from their own computers, VMworld can continue to provide a valuable and engaging experience for all attendees.
