My Journey to Passing the VCP7-CMA Exam
As someone who has worked with vRealize Automation in the past, I recently decided to take the VMware Certified Professional 7 – Cloud Management Automation (VCP7-CMA) exam. After studying for several weeks and using a variety of resources, I am pleased to say that I passed the exam!
Before I get into the details of my study plan and the exam itself, I want to disclose that I have experience with vRealize Automation from my previous work as a white labelled VMware PSO for a number of years. While this experience did give me a solid foundation to build upon, I did not start with zero knowledge.
To prepare for the exam, I focused on updating my knowledge of recent changes in vRealize Automation and reminding myself of pieces that I hadn’t touched in almost three years. I largely used the study resources listed on my blog here:
The exam consists of 85 multiple choice questions and you have 90 minutes to complete it. I found that the exam did not require a lot of hands-on experience, so if you have studied the recommended resources thoroughly, you should be able to pass. The questions were not overly complex, but there were a few console questions where you might need to make an educated guess unless you have recent experience with vRealize Automation.
I took my time and reviewed a few questions at the end that I had marked as incorrect, just to double-check my answers. In the end, I scored 355 out of 500, which I know includes some incorrect answers. However, I am still proud of my achievement and hope that my experience will be helpful to others who are preparing to take the exam.
If you are considering taking the VCP7-CMA exam, I would say that it is definitely achievable with the right study resources. The recommended resources will give you a good idea of what to learn and also set you up in case you want to start using vRealize Automation in your work or personal projects.
I hope this blog post has been helpful to you, and I wish you all the best in your certification journey!
