Unlocking Virtualization Success for Small and Medium Businesses

On June 5th, the Knox virtualization community held its second meeting of the year, focusing on real-world use cases and experiences with virtualization technology. The event was well-attended, with many participants sharing their own stories and insights into the challenges and benefits of virtualization in their organizations.

One of the main topics of discussion was the introduction of Varonis DatAdvantage, a new feature that integrates file share management and access controls into a single platform. This solution allows for more efficient management of file shares, including the ability to set permissions and monitor access logs centrally.

Another topic of interest was the presentation on Veeam Backup & Replication Community Edition, which provides a free virtual machine backup solution for small and medium-sized businesses. The presenter shared their experience with the product and demonstrated how to use it to migrate virtual machines between hosts and stores, as well as how to utilize its other features such as VMware vMotion and ESXi replication.

Additionally, there were lightning talks on various topics including vCHA (vCenter Hypervisor Automation) and WAN acceleration with Veeam. One of the speakers shared their experience with using Veeam WAN Accelerator to achieve a satisfactory RTO (Recovery Time Objective) for their disaster recovery setup in AWS.

Finally, the Japan VMUG (VMware User Group) announced its upcoming education program and encouraged members to participate in order to earn learning credits. The next meeting of the small and medium-sized virtualization community is scheduled for August 2nd, with a theme of “Troubleshooting Case Studies.”

Overall, the event provided valuable insights and practical solutions for attendees looking to improve their virtualization strategies and techniques.
